Myron turned 11 months old today. We have no idea how that happened.
For the most part, Myron has had no problem with being carried from place to place and having things brought to him. He still wants to be held most of the time, so at home, he doesn’t typically get much floor time to practice moving about. He gets plenty of practice with this at daycare though. He is very good at pivoting in place to track us as we walk around or to face whatever toy he is interested in. Also, he can push backwards pretty well. Lately, Em has encouraged him to get on the floor more. She sometimes ups the ante by putting Cheerios in front of him. It might have helped him build some skills, but this time, he just pushed himself backwards, farther away from the Cheerios.

He is getting very close though – he has been trying to push himself up and get his knees under him. So we are expecting him to start crawling any day now.
Myron has been quite interested in music these days. Our friends, Caitlin and Brigham picked up this xylophone from the sidewalk on their way to come visit us once. He tried for a while to play it by slapping the keys with his hands, but just recently he has developed the coordination to hit the keys with the mallet.

Our neighbors also got him a little plastic drum with drumsticks, so that has been fun for him as well. Also in his collection of percussion instruments is an empty tin that used to contain tea. It makes a surprisingly good steel drum.
Myron has also ventured into wind instruments. Our other neighbors gave him this set of cylindrical blocks. After using them as actual blocks for a long time, Myron recently discovered that they are way more fun as makeshift kazoos.

At one point while he was humming on the block kazoo, Em suggested I pull out the trumpet – it’s not the first time I had played for him, but this time, he was much more aware.
